Romeo and Juliet Character list

Romeo Romeo is the son of Montague and Lady Montague. He falls in love with Juliet.
Juliet Juliet is the daughter of Capulet and Lady Capulet. She falls in love with Romeo.
Mercutio Mercutio is related to the prince of verona, and is a friend to Romeo. He is silly and clever, but also hotheaded.
Paris Paris is a young count, and is also related to the prince of verona. He wants to marry Juliet.
Tybalt Tybalt is the newphew of Capulet and thus is Juliets cousin. He is hotheaded and stubborn, and hates the Montagues with a deep passion.
Benvolio Benvolio is Romeos cousin, and his close friend. When Romeo is depressed that Rosaline doesnt love him back, Benvolio tires to console him. Benvolio is also very peaceful, and tries to keep his friends from fighting the Capulets.
Nurse The nurse raised Juliet, and is like a mother and a friend to her. The nurse also helps Romeo and Juliet communicate with one another. The nurse is silly, and often makes inappropriate jokes.
Friar lawrence Friar Lawrence is a member of the church, who romeo often confides in. He helps Romeo and Juliet be together, because he hopes their love will end the feud between the families.
Montague The head of the Montague Family, and father of Romeo.
Lady Montague The wife of the Montague family, married to Montague and mother to Romeo.
Capulet The head of the Capulet family, and father to Juliet.
Lady Capulet The wife of the Capulet family, married to Capulet, and a mother to Juliet.
Balthasar Romeo’s servant in the Montague household. At the beginning of the play, he gets into a fight with servants from the Capulet household.
Escalus/Prince The Prince of Verona, and kinsman of Mercutio and Paris. He Tries to keep peace between two families.
Peter Peter is the Nurse’s servant.
Sampson Sampson is a servant of the Capulets. At the beginning of the play, he starts a fight with servants from the Montague household, along with the servant Gregory.
Gregory Gregory is a servant of the Capulets. At the beginning of the play, he starts a with the servants from the Montague household, along with the servant Sampson.
Abram Abram is a servant of the Montague. At the beginning of the play, he gets into a fight with Sampson and Gregory.
