Romeo and Juliet: Act V

Why is Balthasar visiting Romeo? What news does he give to Romeo? He is visiting Romeo to tell him of Juliet’s death because Romeo previously ordered him to do so (gave him the duty to report any news from Verona to him).
What does Romeo decide to do about the news he recieives? Who will hellp him? What is the problem? Does the plan keep with his character? Romeo decides to go to Verona, see Juliet for himself, and then commit suicide. No one is going to help him. The problem stands that the apothecary cannot sell him poison (“my poverty but not my will consents”).
What news does Friar John bring Friar Laurence? What does Friar Laurence fear at the end of scene ii? What is Friar Laurence’s plan now? Friar John tells Friar Laurence that he was unable to deliver the letter because he stopped to ask another Friar to go with him to Mantua, and in that other town, the officials would not let them leave because they feared the Friars had come into contact with a deadly plague. Friar Laurence is afraid that Juliet will be upset with him, but plans to keep her with him in the cell, then to write to Romeo to pick her up from there.
Why is Paris visiting the Capulet tomb? To lay flowers at Juliet’s grave as well as to say prayers because that night should have been his wedding night with her.
What does Romeo tell Balthasar to do? Why does he lie to him? He gives Balthasar a letter and tells him to deliver it in the morning to Montague. Romeo lies to Balthasar because he does not want Balthasar to stop him.
What does Paris think Romeo is doing at the Capulet tomb? Paris thinks Romeo has come to harm thebodies in some way.
Explain Romeo’s soliloquy in scene iii. 1. Vaguely remembers that Paris was to marry Juliet.2. Cannot get over Juliet’s beauty even in her death (“Death is amourous…and keeps thee here…to be his paramour”)3.Speaks of his suicide and compares himself to the pilot of a ship who is going to crash on the rocks due to his weary sickness.
What new worry does Friar Laurence have when he encounters Balthasar? At first he fears some “unthrifty thing”, and later, when he sees the blood on the tomb, he fears Romeo is dead.
Friar Laurence is the one who is present when Juliet wakes up, and he has to break all of the bad news to her. What does he suggest she do? He suggests she run away and leave the tomb, and that he will “dispose” of her among some nuns.
How does Juliet die? By stabbing herself upon the news that Romeo is dead.
How does Romeo die? By drinking the poison he acquired in the apothecary in Mantua.
