What does Mercutio accuse Benvolio of being? Quick to fight – he says he will fight over anything even if it is that a man has one more whisker than Benvolio. But Benvolio says the Mercutio is more in the habit of fight than he.

What happens when Tybalt approaches them? Mercution is very witty with Tybalt and takes offense at the words Tybalt uses and makes fun of him – Tybalt only wants to fight Romeo
What does tybalt want? He wants to fight Romeo but Romeo doesn’t want to fight him and excuses Tybalts insults. He of course is secretly married to Juliet and tells Tybalt that he loves him and calls him a good Capulet
What does Mercutio want to do after Tybalt has insulted Romeo and Romeo has been kind? Mercutio thinks that Romeo is dishonorable for not fight and so he wants to fight Tybalt.
What does Romeo do when Mercutio and Tybalt begin to fight He draws his sword and directs Benvolio to draw his sword in an effort to break up the fight because the Prince banned fighting.
Who stabs Mercutio? Tybalt.
Is Mercutio mad that he has been stabbed with a fatal wound? Yes – he curses both the Capulets and the Montagues for his death.
When Tybalt returns to the street what does Romeo decide to do – He decides he must avenge Mercutio’s death and he kills Tybalt.
What does Benvolio tell the crowd when they come to find Tybalt for killing Mercutio? He tells them that Tybalt killed Mercutio – and Romeo killed Tybalt – He tells the prince that Tybalt started the fight and Romeo tried to stop it. –
What punishment did the Prince give Romeo? He exiles him from Verona
Who tells Juliet that Romeo killed Tybalt? The Nurse
What does Juliet think after she learns that Romeo killed Tybalt? At first she thinks that he tricked her that he was evil even though he seemed beautiful. She then quickly recants and says she should not say anything bad about her husband.
What does Juliet think about Romeo’s punishment? That it is worse than death to be separated from him
Where does Romeo go after he leaves the scene of Tybalts death? He goes to Friar Lawrence’s cell
What does Romeo think about the punishment of banishment? He is devastated because he wants to be with Juliet and if he can’t then it is torture and worse than death.
What is Friar Lawrence’s thought on the punishment of banishment? He thinks Romeo should be thankful because he could have been killed as punishment. He thinks Romeo is acting foolish and not rational as he thought he was. He wants Romeo to be thankful and get his wits about him. Stop whining!!!
What does Friar Lawrence’s plan for Romeo to do? He wants him to go to Juliet before the night watchmen take up there posts and then leave and escape to Mantua where he can live until they make the marriage public and plan peace btw the families.
What does Capulet plan for his daughter after Tybalt’s death? For him to marry Paris on Thursday
When Juliet’s mother comes into her room to tell her about Paris what does Juliet say? That she doesn’t like Romeo and wants him dead. And that she will help poison him to avenge Tybalt’s death
What does Juliet say when they want her to marry Paris? She says she is thankful but not interested and her parents are angry and think she is crazy for not wanting to marry Paris. They say if you don’t marry Paris you can’t look me in the face again – the father is very angry – they give her no choice – marry Paris or be dead to them.
What advice does the Nurse give to Juliet once she gets the ultimatum from her parents? The nurse tells her to go ahead and marry Paris and it will be better for her than being with Romeo who is banished.
What does Juliet think about the nurses’ advice? she is angry that the nurse has spoken against her husband and now she vows to never tell her anything again. She will go to the friar to get advice
