Romeo and Juliet Act 2

“Blind is his love, and best befits the dark” 2.1.32 Benvolio said this. It means that Romeo’s love is blind and that he choses who he loves at random, therefore it fits the dark.
“If that thy bent of love be honorable, Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow,”2.2. 144-143 Juliet said this. She is telling Romeo, that if he really loves her then he will send word of a proposal to her the next day.
” He jests at scars that never felt a wound” 2.2.1 Romeo said this. He is saying this towards Mercurio since he was making fun of him in Rosaline, although Romeo no longer cares for Rosaline and doesn’t feel anything
“I have no joy of this contract tonight, It is too rash, too unadvised, too sudden, Too like the lightning, which doth cease to be Ere one say ‘It lightens'” 2.2.117-120 Juliet says this. She is saying that their contract of love happened a bit too quickly, and that it is too sudden, similar to a quick flash of lightning.
“Love goes toward love as schoolboys from their books, but love from love, toward school with heavy looks.”2.2.156-156 Romeo says this. He is saying that when a lover meets his love it is like going away from school (YAY!happiness) But a lover going away from his love is like going back to school. (NO!sadness)
“And but thou love me, let them find me here; My life were better ended by their hate, than death prorogued wanting of thy love”2.2.76-78 Romeo says this.He is saying that he would rather her family kill him than him than to live without Juliet’s love.
“The earth that;s nature’s mother is her tomb; What is her burying grave that is her womb”2.3.9-10 Friar said this. He is talking about flowers, which is born through the earth, and die in the earth as well
” Within the infant rind of this weak flower Poison hath residence, and medicine power” 2.3.23-24 Friar said this. Within the flower is poison (when it is tasted), and medicine power(when it is smelt).
“I have been feasting with mine enemy, where on a sudden one hath wounded me That’s by me wounded; both our remedies Within the help and holy physic lies”2.3.49-52 Romeo said this. He had feasted with his enemy (the Capulets) at the party where suddenly one of them (Juliet) wounded him with love, and she was wounded with his love. Therefore, they need help from friar considering their situation.
“For this alliance may so happy prove To turn your households’ rancour to pure love.”2.3.91-92 Friar said this. He will join Romeo and Juliet, to turn their families’ hate into love.
“Wisely and slow, they stumble that run fast.” 2.3.94 Friar is says this. He is saying that those who take things too quick often stumble and/or ruin things along the way.
What happens in 2.4? Tybalt challenges Romeo to a duel, The nurse comes to speak with Romeo about when he will meet Juliet, and his plans on their marriage. Mercurio and Benvolio make fun of the nurse while she is there.
What happens in 2.5? Tired Nurse comes to tell Juliet of the good news, and that she and Romeo will be able to get married in Friar’s cell.
“These violent delights have violent ends, and in their triumph die like fire and powder” 2.6.9-10 Friar said this. He is saying that quick and rash delights such as R and J’s have bad results, that are similar to fire and powder. Adding powder to fire only makes it worse
When do Romeo and Juliet get married? Between Act 2 Scene 6 and Act 3 Scene 1, we do not read the details of their marriage but after the last scene in Act 2 we know that they are husband and wife.
