Romeo and Juliet Act 1

What happens in scene 1? In verona, the servents Gergory and Sampson Capulet provoke a fight with Abram and Balthasar Montague. Benvolio enters and trys to stop it, but Tybalt Capulet enters and calls every man for them self. Several citizens try to stop it when Lord and Lady Montague and Capulet enter and yell at one another. Prince Escalus enters and warns that another fight will result in death. After Romeo comes in and Benvolio and him discuss he is very sad because of Rosaline, she won’t marry him. Benvolio tells Romeo to forget her and find someone else.
What happens in scene 2 Count Paris asked for Lord Capulets permission to marry Juliet. Capulet thinks Juliet is too young for marriage, but he says if Paris can win Juliet’s heart and invites him to the feast. Lord Capulet hands his servent a list of people to invite to the party. Since the servent can’t read he asks Benvolio and Romeo on the street and Romeo sees that Rosaline has been invited and they decide to crash the party.
What happens in scene 3 Lady Capulet asks to summon Juliet. Her address to her mother shows she is submissive and obedient. The nurse rambles on about Juliet as a child. Lady Capulet quiets the nurse as she then tell Juliet of Paris’ marriage offer and asked Juliet to consider the proposal. The nurse and Lady Capulet praise Paris’ looks and Juliet duitfully agrees to her mother’s request
What happens in scene 4 Romeo, Benvolio, and Mercutio put on masks for the party. Romeo tells of a dream that filled him with forebodings of the party. Mercutio describes Queen Mab who is the fairy incontrol of the dream world and insists dreams have no bearing on reality. Romero forsees his own death disagrees but decided to confront whatever fate awaits him and goes to the party.
What happens in scene 5 Lord Capulet cheerfully greets his guests and talks about his youth. Romeo see Juliet and falls in love with her at first sight. He asks about who she is, he doesn’t learn her identity. Tybalt recognizes his voice and prepares to fight. Capulet stops him and compliments Romeo’s mannors. Tybalt obeys but swears he will have revenge. Romeo confesses his love to Juliet and they exchange forms of a sonnet which uses religious imagery to describe the passionate lovers. They kiss, but are seperate by the Nurse who summons Juliet to her mother. Romeo finds out from the Nurse that Juliet is Lord Capulet’s daughter and mourns his bad fortune and departs. Juliet questions Romeo’s identity to the Nurse and discovers he is a montague also mourns her bad luck with love.
