Romeo and Juliet

Act 1 Scene 1 Sampson and Gregory, Capulets, insult the montagues and they insult each other, Benvolio tries to break up fig with sword. Tybalt takes this as a threat, starts a huge fight which is stopped by the Prince. Benvolio talks to Romeo’s parents who are worried about him, then Romeo appears and talks to Benvolio about his love for Rosaline but she doesn’t love him back, and she promised chastity.
Act 1 Scene 2 Romeo and Benvolio and invited by the servingman to the Capulet party.
Act 1 Scene 3 Lady Capulet, Juliet, and The Nurse talk about marriage for Juliet, and how Paris wishes to marry Juliet. The nurse tells an embarrassing story of Juliet as a child.
Act 1 Scene 4 Mercutio, Benvolio, and Romeo talk, Mercutio makes fun of Romeo for his love.
Act 1 Scene 5 Romeo meets Juliet at the busy Capulet party, they fall in love and kiss.
Act 2 Scene 1 Romeo goes and tries to find Juliet, Mercutio makes fun of him for his quick change of heart.
Act 1 Scene 2 Romeo finds Juliet and they profess their love to each other, he tries to swear to her but she says not to, and says he will send a person tomorrow to test his love.
Act 2 Scene 3 Romeo talks with Friar Lawrence about his love for Juliet, his dad notices and questions about his quick change of heart from Rosaline, but Romeo says he loves her so his father approves.
Act 2 Scene 4 Mercutio, Benvolio, and Romeo discuss, Mercutio says that love has made Romeo weaker. The nurse and peter come to check if Romeo’s love for Juliet is authentic.
Act 2 Scene 5 Juliet is anxious for the nurse to return, she returns but is extremely tired, but brings the news that Romeo wants to marry her.
Act 2 Scene 6 Romeo and Juliet are married by Friar Lawrence
Act 3 Scene 1 Romeo, Mercutio, and Benvolio encounter Tybalt and other capulets on the streets, Romeo tries to make peace with Tybalt. Mercutio says he’ll fight and fights Tybalt and is stabbed and dies. Romeo then attacks Tybalt and kills him. The prince comes and Benvolio tries to convince him and surrounding citizens that Romeo was trying to keep the peace, but Romeo is exiled from Verona.
Act 3 Scene 2 The nurse brings news of the fight to Juliet, she is deeply saddened and frustrated. She gives the Nurse a ring to give to Romeo as a symbol of love.
Act 3 Scene 3 Romeo is in grief in Friar Lawrence’s cell, threatens to stab himself because he assumes Juliet thinks he is a murderer. The nurse comes before this and then hands Romeo the ring, Friar Lawrence makes a plan for Romeo and finalizing marriage to visit Juliet before fleeing to Mantua.
Act 3 Scene 4 Paris, Capulet, and Lady Capulet walk together, Capulet promises that he will make to decision for Juliet for marriage, Decides that marriage for them will be on Thursday.
Act 3 Scene 5 Romeo meets with Juliet in the early morning, they want to stay together but Lady Capulet approaches and they tearfully separate. Lady Capulet thinks she is crying for Tybalt. Juliet announces her love for Romeo when marriage with Paris is announced and enrages her parents. The nurse encourages her to marry Paris, and she is disgusted and leaves to go see the friar. She states she has the power to take her own life if the friar cannot help.
Act 4 Scene 1 Paris talks to Friar Lawrence, Paris tells him how Tybalt’s death has made Juliet unbalanced and how he wishes to soon marry Juliet. Juliet talks to Paris, Paris talks lovingly but Juliet is indifferent. Paris kisses her upon leaving, once he leaves Juliet threatens to kill herself. Friar Lawrence makes a plan: Juliet agreees to marry Paris thenon before the wedding she must drink sleeping potion that will make her appear to be dead, she will be laid to rest in the Capulet tomb, and the friar will send word to Romeo in Mantua to help him retrieve her when she wakes up. She will then return to Mantua with Romeo, and be free to live with him away from their parents’ hatred. juliet is happy with plan, Friar Lawrence gives her the sleeping potion.
Act 4 Scene 2 Juliet returns home, where she finds Capulet and Lady Capulet preparing for the wedding. She surprises her parents by repenting her disobedience and cheerfully agreeing to marry Paris. Capulet is so pleased that he insists on moving the marriage up a day, to Wednesday—tomorrow. Juliet heads to her chambers to, ostensibly, prepare for her wedding. Capulet heads off to tell Paris the news.
Act 4 Scene 3 Juliet is asked to be alone, she wonders what will happen if she drinks it. She toasts to Romeo and drinks.
Act 4 Scene 4-5 Capulet house is ready for wedding, nurse, Paris, and Capulet parents find that Juliet is dead and they mourn. Peter the servant asks musicians to play a happy song, but they refuse. Then they insult peter and he leaves, and then they stay hoping to get some lunch which would have been served at wedding.
Act 5 Scene 1 Romeo describes a dream he had the night before about him dead but Juliet kissed him. Romeo writes a letter to Montague and orders balthasar to get him a horse. Romeo sends off Balthasar and goes to find an apothecary. He notices the apothecary looks poor and takes advantage of him because selling poison in Mantua is illegal. He buys the poison and wanting to kill himself next to Juliet.
Act 5 Scene 2 Friar Lawrence speaks with Friar John, who he had sent to give a letter to Romeo. Friar John says that he never delivered the letter. Friar Lawrence is worried about Juliet because no one will retrieve her. He does not know that Romeo has found out and that he believes her death to be real. Friar Lawrence sends another letter with Friar John to Romeo.
Act 5 Scene 3 Paris goes to the churchyard at night and scatters flowers on Juliet’s grave. Romeo comes in with a crowbar and Balthasar. He lies to Balthasar and sends him off, but Balthasar stays and watches. Paris sees Romeo and accuses him of killing Juliet, as it is believed that the death of Tybalt caused Juliet to die in grief. They fight, Romeo kills Paris and asks to be laid next to Juliet’s tomb. Romeo drinks the poison and dies next to Juliet. Friar Lawrence enters, Juliet wakes and asks where Romeo is. Friar Lawrence wants her to leave with him and tells him they are both dead, but she stays. She kills herself with a dagger. Chaos reigns in the churchyard, where Paris’s page has brought the watch. The watchmen discover bloodstains near the tomb; they hold Balthasar and Friar Lawrence, who they discovered loitering nearby. The Prince and the Capulets enter. Romeo, Juliet, and Paris are discovered in the tomb. Montague arrives, declaring that Lady Montague has died of grief for Romeo’s exile. The Prince shows Montague his son’s body. Upon the Prince’s request, Friar Lawrence succinctly tells the story of Romeo and Juliet’s secret marriage and its consequences. Balthasar gives the Prince the letter Romeo had previously written to his father. The Prince says that it confirms the friar’s story. He scolds the Capulets and Montagues, calling the tragedy a consequence of their feud and reminding them that he himself has lost two close kinsmen: Mercutio and Paris. Capulet and Montague clasp hands and agree to put their vendetta behind them. Montague says that he will build a golden statue of Juliet, and Capulet insists that he will raise Romeo’s likeness in gold beside hers.
