Othello Act 2 Review

1. Why does Iago like to see that Cassio is so friendly with Desdemona? Iago hopes to make Othello jealous of Cassio by using Desdemona’s friendship with Cassio seem more like love.
2. Who does Iago get to provoke Cassio to a fight? Roderigo
3. Why does Iago urge Cassio to drink to Othello’s health? Cassio doesn’t usually drink, so he will become quickly drunk (and then fight/lose his position)
4. What does Iago suggest Cassio to win his job back ? Get Desdemona to speak to Othello about forgiving Cassio.
5. How does Iago plan to get Othello to doubt Desdemona’s fidelity? He will arrange times to see Cassio talking to Desdemona (about his lost job), thus making Othello suspicious of Desdemona.
6. Why is Roderigo angry at the end of Act 2? He was beaten by Cassio, Iago is taking his money and he still isn’t closer to having Desdemona.
What pattern can we see in Iago’s actions? He does most evil when seeming to do most good.
