Iambic pentameter 10 stressed and unstressed syllables in two sets of five 5 stressed and 5 unstressed
Puns: A play on words where 2 words have the same or similar sound but different meanings
Sonnets: 14 lines written in iambic pentameter written in quatrains ending in a couplet-abab pattern.
Verse/prose: verse is poetry with a meter or rhyme , higher class people speak it. prose is written in regular paragraph with no set rhythm and lower class people speak it.
What is Iago’s complaint in Scene I Iago complains about that othello promoted cassio over himself
Who is Brabantio, and why does Iago and Roderigo awaken him in the middle of the night? Brabantio is desdemona’s father and he is awaken in the middle of the night to be warned that othello used witchcraft to get married and they have already left.
Why does Iago leave Roderigo at Brabantio’s house? To warn othello that the authorities are coming, and he is trying to get on othello’s good side.
What is Roderigo’s previous relationship with Brabantio and Desdemona? That he asked desdemona to marry him and she said no he love her and she doesn’t love him back.
What is Brabantio’s reaction to Othello’s marriage to Desdemona? he was incredibly mad because he thought othello used witchcraft since they have gone on to get married and there is no way besides magic she would have fell in love because othello is a moor
Why does the Duke send for Othello? he sent for othello so they could hear both sides- desdemona and othello’s and iago’s.
What danger is Cyprus facing? the turkish fleet is attacking cyprus
Brabantio complains to the Duke about Othello’s marriage to Desdemona. After listening to both sides of the story, what is the Duke’s reply? that he agrees with othello, they fell in love and no magic was used. also the speech was so good, the duke said it could convince him to marry his daughter.
What is Roderigo’s complaint, and what is Iago’s reply to it? rodrigo’s complaint is that desdemona will never love him and that desdemona said she is leaving with him because she loves him and iago convinces him to put money in his purse because iago says that desdemona will get sick of othello when he is in cyprus and then rodrigo would be there and she will take a man with money.
Who is Othello, and why is he so respected by the Duke? Othello is the war general-honored and respected hero. also he is desdemona’s husband.
What warning does Brabantio give to Othello? That desdemona betrayed her father and she can easily betray othello.
Othello and Desdemona have just been married. Will they stay together or separate? They will stay together besides iago lies because desdemona is loyal and stays loyal to and iago will be watching desdemona when he is off
What does Iago say must happen to Desdemona? that she needs to come unloyal because she will get sick of the moor and will need someone to be there and if rodrigo has money she will definitely go with him.
Why does Iago “hate the Moor”? othello gives the promotion to cassio over iago2.)iago thinks othello and emilia are having an affair
How would you grade Iago on racial insensitivity? on a scale of 1-10, 10 because he uses the color of his skins to compare to animals or something rude and insensitive.
