BLOOD IMAGERY + GUILT Lady Macbeth cries for the bloody spots to wash off her!This reflects her guilt, guilt has brought her mental state into a downfall… “Out, damned spot! Out, I say””Who would have thought that the old man to have had so much blood in him?”(old man clearly referring to Duncan)”What, will these hands never be clean?”
CLOTHING IMAGERY Angus comments how Macbeth’s kinship does not suit him “Now does he feel his title hang loose about him, like a giant’s robe upon a dwarfish thief”
Macbeth is told that LM has killed herself. He now looks at life pessimistically and feels as if life is meaningless.He comments that she should have not died so early and sudden and wishes he had the time to mourn for his loss “Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow”
Macbeth decides to fight to the end, fight to the death “Why should I play the roman fool, and die on mine own sword?”
Macbeth finds out that Macduff was not born naturally, he was born through a C-section, meaning two of the prophecies have failed “Macduff was from his mother’s womb untimely ripp’d”
Macbeth is defeated and Malcolm is now the king. The natural order has been restored and Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are remembered as : “of this dead butcher and his fiend-like queen”
