why does macbeth want banquet and fleance dead? banquo is noble and it makes macbeth scared. banquo has the wisdom to make risks which makes macbeth feel unsafe. also, banquo’s sons will be the future kings and not macbeth’s heir lines. fleance is banquo’s son so he will become king.
what is macbeth’s plan for killing banquo and fleance? does it work? the first murder attacks banquo and fleance as they were walking to the palace. since they turned off the torch light they were only able to kill banquet. fleance was able to escape so the three murders failed their mission.
macbeth says, “the worm that’s fled hath nature in time will venom breed, no teeth for the present.” what does that mean? fleance has escaped and with time it will be more threatening to macbeth but for now fleance is not that threatening.
who (what) did macbeth see at the banquet table? the ghost of banquo.
how does lady macbeth cover for macbeth at the banquet? what excuses does she give for his wild talk? she says to not look at him because macbeth will get angry. she also uses the excuse that she was like that since he was a child.

macbeth says, “i am in blood stepped in so far that should i wade no more, returning were as tedious as go o’er.” what does he mean? once he killed king duncan, it became so difficult to stop killing because killing his enemies just seemed much easier.
what does hecate want the witches to do? hecate wants the witches to meet him in the pit by the river of hell and have macbeth fo there and face his destiny that hecate is making for him.
what does lennox think about macbeth, fleance, and duncan’s sons? lennox thinks very highly of macbeth and he basically has been played by macbeth’s lies. while lennox thinks greatly of macbeth, his opinions on fleance and duncan’s sons are negative. lennox thinks that the boys killed their father since they left the crime scene when in reality that was no the case.

what is macbeth’s attitude towards the witches this time? macbeth isn’t scared anymore. he wants the witches to use their power no matter the consequences in order for macbeth to have his unanswered questions answered.

macbeth says (about the witches), “infected be the air whereon they ride, and damned all those that trust them!” what is macbeth, in effect, saying about himself? he is saying that now he is damned since he has trusted them.

why does lady macduff son’s say liars and swearers are fools? son: “then the liars are fools, for there are enough liars in the world to beat up the honest men and hang them.” -there are not enough honest men in the world. since there are more dishonest men in the world they should get together and hang the honest men.
malcolm says, “angels are bright still, though the brightest fell though all things foul would wear the brows of grace, yet grace must still look so.” what does that mean? lucifer or the devil once was the brightest angel and he fell. the point is that things are not what they seem, even though everything evil wants to look good, good still has to look good too.
macduff says, “oh scotland, scotland!” why? macduff fears what is to become of his country and is no leader that is fit to be king, so he thinks.
what news does ross bring to macduff?ross ross brings macduff the news that scotland is need of help. macduff asks about his family and ross responds with “they were at peace (dead) when i left them.” ross tells macduff that men and women are getting ready to rebel against macbeth and require his presence.
what do the doctor and gentlewoman see lady macbeth doing? what do they decide to do about it? the doctor and gentlewoman see lady macbeth sleepwalk, she is rubbing the blood off her hands and she is confessing to some of her sins, sleep-talking. they decide to remove anything that she can hurt herself with and to get a priest.
what does macbeth want the doctor to do for his wife? he wants the doctor to take her memory of sorrow or to make a drug to erase the troubling thoughts and ease her heart to giver her relief.
