“Glamis hath murdered sleep, therefore Cawdor shall sleep no more, Macbeth shall sleep no more” Sleep is considered a healing property in Shakespeare’s time so this quote emphasises that Macbeth shall never be heals because of what he has done.
“No, this may hand will rather the multitudinous seas incarnadine, making the green one red” This shows the extent of the guilt Macbeth feels which is a consequence he will get from committing an evil act like murder, especially on the king. He realises his guilt is too great and he will not be able to rid himself of it.
“But screw your courage to the sticking place” This shows a certain strength or power that Lady Macbeth had over Macbeth before the murder, because her challenging attitude caused Macbeth to want to succeed more, just to show Lady Macbeth that he had the courage to commit an evil act.
“A little water clears us of this deed” Straight after the murder, Lady Macbeth hasn’t yet realised the extent of the guilt she will feel after, unlike Macbeth who realizes straight away. She thinks that she can suppress her femininity by saying this also.
