When do we see Macbeth first lie in this Act? When he tells Banquo that, “I think not of them.” (referring to the witches). This is after Banquo relates that he has thought a lot about what the witches said to them.
What does the line, “Wake Duncan with your knocking, I wish you could,” refer to? This is after he has murdered the King and hears a knocking at the south door of Inverness. He is regretting that the murder happened.
After the King’s sons are told about their father’s murder, where do they go? Malcolm goes to England and Donalbain goes to Ireland.
On the night of the murder, who does Lady Macbeth tell Macbeth was sleeping in the room next to the king? Donalbain (and Malcolm)

What does Macbeth forget to do after he murders the king? He forgets to plant the daggers (murder weapons) on the guards and smear the blood on their clothing to make it look like they were responsible for the murder.
Why did Shakespeare include the porter in Act II? To provide comic relief from such a grisly scene where the king is slaughtered.
Why is Macbeth not willing to return to the king’s chambers to take the daggers? He says that he cannot look upon the scene again.
What does Mabeth “see” in his hallucination? a dagger supposedly leading him into King Duncan’s bed chamber
Who is suspected for the king’s murder? The chamberlains are suspected but the king’s sons are also suspected and possibly thought to have bribed the guards to kill their father.
Why are Malcolm and Donalbain suspected of their own father’s murder? Because they fled Inverness without telling anyone
What does Lady Macbeth say that allows us to “see” her cold and ruthless heart? She tells Macbeth that “a little water clears us of this deed.” (telling her husband to wash the blood off of his hands)

Why does Lady Macbeth faint in Act II? She finds out that her husband has just slaughtered the king’s guards.

Macduff says, “Approach the chamber and destroy your sight.” What is he talking about? He is referring to the murder scene where King Duncan is lying dead.
