What does Macbeth say has been learned of Malcolm and Donalbain? lying and spreading rumors in England and Ireland
Who will Banquo take with him? His son, Fleance
Macbeth says, “For them the gracious Duncan have I murdered.” Who is he talking about? What is bothering Macbeth in this soliloquy? He is murdering for Banquo’s sons; He’s struggling with his evil deed that he may not be getting benefit from.
What did Macbeth try to convince the murderers of? That Banquo is a deceiver and a trouble maker; and that he needs to be murdered.
What do the murderers say about their own lives and their willingness to do what Macbeth want them to do? They agree to serve the king so they can have his favor and have their families taken care of
Besides Banquo, who else does Macbeth want dead? Banquo’s son, Fleance
Lady Macbeth voices concern about getting what one desires but not being “content.” What does she say is “safer” to be? “Tis safer to be that which we destroy than by destruction dwell in doubtful joy.” – It would be better to be dead like Duncan than live in uncertain joy.
What reasons does Macbeth give for why Duncan is better of than he? Duncan can sleep; nothing like treason or poison can touch him further. Macbeth can’t because he has guilty nightmares; his mind is tortured
