What is the plan of Laertes and Claudius? Laertus will fight Hamlet in a duel. He will use a sharp sword with poison on the tip. Even if he just scratches Hamlet, he will die. If Hamlet wins the duel, Claudius will give him a poisoned cup of wine to celebrate that will kill him.
Why doesn’t Claudius put Hamlet in prison when he finds out he killed Polonius? The people love Hamlet. They will be angry and could threaten Claudius if he harmed Hamlet.
