Why does Polonius tell Reynaldo to investigate Laertes’ behavior by gossiping about him to others? He’s going through roundabout means to see what his son is up to in Paris.
What did Hamlet do to frighten Ophelia? He came to her room with no hat on, his tights were dirty and pulled around his ankles, his shirt was unbuttoned, and he was pale. He grabbed her arms and shook her a bit before leaving her room.
What does Polonius say is wrong with Hamlet? Hamlet is sick with love for Ophelia. Love is a violent emotion and makes people self destruct.
What does Ophelia say she did, that Polonius identifies as the cause of Hamlet’s odd behavior? She sent Hamlet back his letters that he wrote her and she did not allow Hamlet to visit her.
Who are Guildenstern and Rosencrantz? What does Claudius ask them to do? People from his court, but also Hamlet’s friends from college. He wants them to make Hamlet have some fun, and spy on him and report back to the king if anything is bothering Hamlet.

How does Polonius recommend he and Claudius prove his analysis of Hamlet’s distraction? Polonius will send Ophelia to see him. They’ll hide behind the curtain/tapestry and watch the two of them.
What does Hamlet think of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern’s motives for visiting him? He knows they’ve been sent by the King to watch him and report back to him.
What does Hamlet tell Rosencrantz and Guildenstern is wrong with him? He’s lost all sense of fun, there is no longer any meaning to his life.
What does Hamlet decide to do at the end of Act 2, Scene 2? He decides to make the actors that are coming in to put on a show to act out something along the lines of his father’s murder to see Claudius’ reaction.
