Hamlet tries to take revenge of Claudius, just like Fortinbras tries to take revenge on the person who killed Fortinbras Sr.
How does Hamlet feel about women? Hamlet has little respect for women and feels that they betray him. Gertrude married right after his father’s death, giving Hamlet no time to mourn, and Gertrude left Hamlet. He says his mother is weak because she was wooed by gifts. Ophelia is not deemed marriageable. (pg 29- Hamlet Sr was god-like and Claudius is a satyr)
Why does Laertes’ worry about Ophelia and Hamlet? Where is he returning to and why does he have a “serious conversation with Ophelia about Hamlet”? Laertes is worried because he doesn’t think Hamlet really loved Ophelia. He is returning to Denmark and has a serious conversation with Ophelia because he wants to make sure she doesn’t get hurt.
When did Claudius and Gertrude marry? Claudius and Gertrude married 2 months after Hamlet Sr. death.
Why did he think she was a fool? Hamlet thought Gertrude was a fool because she couldn’t love Claudius after only two months, and told Hamlet to get over his father’s death and to be happy that she married again.

Why does Claudius claim to send Hamlet to England? What is the real reason? Claudius sends Hamlet to England to collect the debt that they owe Denmark. The real reason is because he sent Hamlet to be killed.
Describe the plan Claudius comes up with to kill Hamlet. What is the first plan and what is the other plan once he returns from England. How is Laertes involved? Does Gertrude know? Claudius’ plan was to send Hamlet to England to have him killed. His other plan was to have Laertes stab Hamlet with a poisoned sword. If that plan didn’t work, he would have Hamlet drink from a poisoned cup. Gertrude doesn’t know about this, because she wouldn’t have let Claudius go through with the plan.
